A Safe Space for Laocoon
A piece of antiquity from the workshop of Camillo Rusconi now sits in a private art collection on Madison Avenue.
Laocoon was a Trojan priest in Greek mythology, who along with his two sons, was attacked by giant snakes sent by the gods. The phrase "I fear the Greeks even bearing gifts" is attributed to him.
The sculpture is in terra cotta on a Breccia Africana marble base.
Delivery required the careful unpacking, movement, and placement of the highly fragile sculpture.
Compass was proud to help the ill fated Laocoon find a new home.
